FBE 494 - Family Business Governance and Succession Planning

4.00 credits
Family Business Governance and Succession Planning tackles some of the most important issues faced by family companies. Research has shown that many family businesses do not have the expertise to design and implement such practices. This is an advanced family business course, which will address topics such as the following: navigating generational differences, succession planning, family governance, boards of directors and advisors, family constitution, and inter-generational leadership development. The course is project-based. Students working in teams will assist family businesses in developing and implementing professional governance and succession planning processes. Students will benefit from the highly practical approach of this class that allows them to make valuable contribution when they join or provide consulting for a family business. Signature Learning Experience: Capstone Experience. Register by Instructor. Spring semester.
