CJ 3400 - Community-Based TreatmentsCredits: 3.00 credits. This course introduces the student to an analysis of the relationship to the community and effective implementation of criminal and juvenile justice services. Techniques will be explored for increasing the mutual understanding and cooperation between the community and the criminal and juvenile justice systems.
Among the subjects that will be covered will be the history of probation and parole; the goals, functions, philosophical orientations, roles and responsibilities of probation and parole officers; jails and prisons; theories of offender treatment; juvenile probation and aftercare; and recidivism.
