CS 4420 - Computer Network SecurityCredits: 3.00 credits. This course provides an introduction to the principles and practice of network security. It aims to introduce students to the fundamental techniques used in implementing secure network communications, and to give them an understanding of common threats and attacks, as well as some practical experience in attacking and defending networked systems. Topics include: security threats in networks, principles for providing security mechanisms (cryptography, key management, message authentication), practice of securing systems (PGP, IPsec, SSL), and recent research topics in security.
