ESC 100 - Introduction to Exercise Science

1.00 credits.
Students will be introduced to the field of exercise science and the inter-related disciplines of exercise physiology, motor development, nutrition, biomechanics and sports and exercise psychology. The course will provide an overview of the field as a profession, including career opportunities and planning, professional organizations and certification, the relationship of the field to the healthcare system, and current trends in healthcare, wellness and fitness. Students will also learn the structure and curricular options within the BS in Exercise Science program, as well as the opportunities to build a strong educational and professional portfolio to support their career trajectory. *Prerequisite(s): Exercise Science majors or first-year students only.
