ESC 160 - Health and Wellness Promotion

3.00 credits.
Students will be introduced to the scientific knowledge and skills to guide clients in averting physical and lifestyle behaviors that can cause injuries and diseases, and to educate clients in how to make healthy, positive physical and lifestyle behavior choices that will enhance their health and well-being. The course will cover a wide range of topics that are critical to prevention and wellness, including but not limited to mental health, drugs and alcohol, personal safety, nutrition, sexuality, motivation and resilience. Students will also develop knowledge about behavior change theories and skills in interpersonal communication to implement successful prevention and wellness strategies for clients. *Prerequisite(s): Exercise Science majors, Health Science and Health Profession majors only.
