The Psychology department seeks to develop reflective, compassionate, and critical thinkers. The department offers courses in all the primary subfields of Psychology including the study of Mind and Body, Self and Society, and Clinical and Counseling Psychology. Students develop skills in statistics and research methods and hone their critical thinking, writing, and presentation skills. Each student conducts an original research project in collaboration with a faculty member and completes a course involving work with a community partner. Internships in clinical and non-clinical settings are strongly encouraged, and training in foundational mental health skills is offered. Through individualized academic advising and a professional development seminar, students are prepared for either the direct pursuit of careers in psychology, or for further graduate and professional studies in psychology, neuroscience, medicine, business, education, human services, or law.
