Professional Studies (B.A.,B.S.)


The Bachelor in Professional Studies is a dynamic degree completion program designed for self-directed learners from various academic backgrounds who seek to customize their education to align with personal and professional goals. This flexible undergraduate program values prior academic experiences while preparing students for a competitive job market. Students in the program develop essential skills employers seek, including interpersonal communication, problem-solving, research, and critical thinking. The curriculum fosters innovation, broadens perspectives, and provides a well-rounded foundation of knowledge applicable across industries. To ensure a seamless path to graduation, students work closely with the Academic Advising Center to develop a personalized degree completion plan. The program requires a minimum of 125 credits, integrating coursework from the associate-level Core Program with Professional Studies program requirements.

Students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Interpret information to problem-solve real-world issues.
  • Analyze roles in different communities and industries.
  • Synthesize knowledge from different disciplines to make well-reasoned and ethical arguments, judgments, and conclusions.

In addition to the requirements above, students are responsible for completing The School of Graduate and Professional Studies: Core Program .

Notes:


  • Students may take any additional electives to achieve the 125-credit minimum to earn their bachelor’s degree.
  • Any student with an earned associated degree from another accredited college or university, consisting of at least 40 corresponding general education credits, will be recognized as meeting all Elizabethtown College Core Program requirements.
  • Residency, a student must have at least 15 credits in their major, and a minimum of 30 of the last 60 credit hours must be taken at Elizabethtown College
  • A maximum of 64 transfer credits from a two-year college or university and a maximum of 95 credits from a four-year college or university. These minimums include up to 32 credits earned through Challenge Through Examination (Advanced Placement, CLEP, International Baccalaureate, etc.).
