COM 248 - Communication Law and Ethics4.00 credits. An examination of the law related to the field of communications as well as its history and effects. Current ethical issues are explored through case studies. Analysis of legal and ethical issues affecting the media - including the First Amendment, defamation, privacy, news gathering, obscenity, copyright and broadcasting/telecommunications - and the views of philosophers from Socrates to the present. *Prerequisite(s): COM 120 .
