ESC 420 - Exercise Prescription for Special Populations3.00 credits. Students will gain the knowledge and skills to apply the principles of fitness testing, exercise prescription, and strength training and conditioning to populations that have specific needs and conditions that require special attention and guidance. These populations will include those with common chronic medical conditions, such as diabetes, arthritis and cardiovascular disease, and those with physical disabilities. Students will develop an in-depth knowledge of the diseases and conditions that they are likely to encounter in their professional practice, and develop problem-solving skills to adapt physical training programs to these populations so that they are safe and effective. *Prerequisite(s): ESC 340 and ESC 341 .
