Student Learning Outcomes for Theatre:

Students will be able to:

  • Think conceptually and critically about text, performance, and production and communicate those thoughts clearly and effectively.

  • Analyze Western dramatic literature, taking account of genre, production style, and historical period where appropriate.

  • Demonstrate a proficiency in standard theatre production processes.

  • Describe how theatre reflects and relates to society, and how theatre and society can affect each other.

TH 105 may be taken any semester. It is required for all majors.

TH 155 may be taken every fall semester. It is required for all majors.

TH 255 may be taken every other spring semester. It is required for all majors.

The prerequisite for TH 230 and TH 235 is TH 165. Th 230 and TH 235 are offered in alternating spring terms. They are both required for student in the theatre performance concentration, but NOT in the technology concentration.

Theatre majors in the performance concentration are required to take DA 101, offered every semester. Theatre majors in the technology concentration are required to take ART 105, offered every semester.

The Theatre and Dance Division strongly advises that first-year students take at least two of the following three courses during their first year: TH 105, TH 155, and/or TH 165.
