Accounting (B.S.)

Preparation for entrance into the profession of accounting (public, private, or government) requires a basic business core in addition to proficiency in accounting. Because of the importance of critical thinking, communication, technology, and quantitative techniques, students are urged to elect additional courses that strengthen these skills areas. Please refer to the School of Business website for additional information and requirements: www.etown.edu/depts/business/advising.

Student Learning Outcomes for Accounting:

CPA Certification/150-Hour Accounting Program

According to Pennsylvania’s newly updated CPA licensure law, CPA candidates are no longer required to complete 150 credits to become licensed.   Instead, individuals can now qualify for licensure with a bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant work experience—a more accessible and cost-effective path for many aspiring CPAs.

Our accounting program is fully aligned with this new pathway, offering the required coursework and expert advising to help you meet your goals efficiently. For students who enter the program with Advanced Placement (AP), dual-enrollment, or other college credits earned in high school, Elizabethtown also offers a well-established option to complete 150 credits in just four years. This allows students to qualify for CPA licensure after only one year of work experience—an appealing option for those who want to become licensed CPAs as soon as possible.
