ED 242 - The Use of Sign Language with People with Multi-Disabilities2.00 credits. A practical sign language course for persons interested in special education. Information covered includes: 1) sign language and other alternative communication systems, 2) adaptive signing techniques, 3) developmental processes involved with signing, 4) how to choose a sign/sign system, and 5) basic core vocabulary for use with people with developmental disabilities in their environments (i.e., sheltered workshops, special school settings, group homes, etc.). *Prerequisite(s): ED 105 , and ED 150 or ED 151 . Provisional or formal acceptance into Education Program required. Spring semester.
