PSY 255 - Psychotherapy and Assessment

4.00 credits.

This course introduces the basic principles of psychological assessment and psychotherapy. The first half of the course will cover theory and techniques used in various psychotherapeutic orientations (e.g., psychodynamic, cognitive, and behavioral), and the second half of the course will focus on principles of assessment for various disorders/conditions (e.g., memory problems, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). This course will serve as a pre-requisite for the applied clinical skills course, Counseling Psychology (PSY 355). *Prerequisite(s): PSY 105. Fall semester.
