MU 505 - Musics of the Silk Road

3.00 credits.
This course explores and examines the intersection of culture, history, and music within areas connected historically by the silk road. Within selected musical traditions, students will encounter, analyze, and describe issues of acculturation, power, migration, identity, authenticity, religious ritual, expression and meaning, individualism/collectivism, and transmission. Prerequisite(s): MME 501  Fall semester.
