MCP 629 - Psychopharmacology for Counselors 3.00 credits. This course is intended to provide students with an overview of basic neurobiology and the uses and mechanisms of commonly prescribed psychotropic medications. This course will help students to understand the roles that counselors play in working with medical professionals and the integration of counseling and pharmacotherapy. We will also discuss the psychopharmacology of drugs of abuse and psychopharmacological treatments for substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Spring semester.
