The Elizabethtown College Student Handbook is your official introduction to important resources and is your guide to Elizabethtown College policies, community standards and expectations for individual student conduct. The policies and procedures of the Student Handbook will reviewed periodically and are subject to change. Elizabethtown College, located in historic Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, is a selective, private, residential, co-educational institution. Elizabethtown offers 56 undergraduate and five graduate majors and 100+ minors and concentrations, which lead to degrees in liberal arts, fine and performing arts, science and engineering, business, health and social services, and education.

Elizabethtown College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia PA 19104, 267-284-5000. The Middle States Commission on Higher Education is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. In addition, Elizabethtown has specialized accreditations from ABET; the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education of the American Occupational Therapy Association; the American Chemical Society Committee on Professional Training; the Accreditation Council for  Business Schools and Programs; the Council on Social Work Education; the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences; and the National Association of Schools of Music.

President’s Message

I am pleased to share Elizabethtown College’s 2019-20 Academic Catalog. This catalog offers a wide variety of courses that will prepare and connect you to careers and life beyond Elizabethtown. Your discoveries with fellow classmates and professors, both inside and outside the classroom, will bring teaching and learning to life. By carefully choosing your courses, in consultation with your advisor, you will chart a rich pathway that will broaden your perspective and ready you for your life’s work.  I am particularly impressed by the breadth and depth of our course offerings and encourage you to take full advantage of the options to broaden your skills and knowledge.

Challenge yourself. Step outside your comfort zone and make a conscious decision to navigate an unexpected path. By exploring all the opportunities that are available to you here at Elizabethtown, you will set the stage for an exciting academic journey.
