SP 312 - Modern Spain4.00 credits. A selective study of Spain’s cultural heritage to an understanding and appreciation of contemporary Spanish society. The course offers an interdisciplinary treatment of diverse aspects of modern Spanish society, including geography, politics/government, regionalism, cultural identity, immigration, language policy, popular culture, and societal structure, to name a few. The course examines cultural adaptations and changes, drawing upon historical precedent wherever appropriate. Films and internet/mass media resources support topics under discussion. *Prerequisite(s): SP 212 or placement. Alternating spring semesters.
